Designed to optimize solar energy harvesting, the VICTRON ENERGY SmartSolar MPPT 150/35 charge controller is an advanced solution for 12V, 24V, 36V, and 48V systems. It stands out for its ultra-fast MPPT technology, capable of improving energy recovery by up to 30% compared to PWM controllers and up to 10% compared to slower MPPT controllers, especially under cloudy skies or during light intensity variations. Its advanced maximum power point (MPP) tracking ensures optimized energy production, even in partial shading, by identifying the global MPP rather than local points.
Advanced efficiency and connectivity
The SmartSolar MPPT 150/35 offers a conversion efficiency above 98%, with no cooling fan, and maintains its nominal output current up to 40 °C. Its built-in Bluetooth Smart connectivity enables configuration, control, and firmware updates via the VictronConnect app. For wired integration, a VE.Direct port is available, allowing communication with Victron Energy GX products, PCs, or other devices. These communication options provide superior flexibility compared to more basic controllers that only offer a local or proprietary interface.
Flexible charging algorithm and protections
The charging algorithm is fully programmable and offers eight pre-programmed options selectable via a rotary switch, providing adaptability to various battery types, including lithium, AGM, gel, and open lead-acid. It includes a function for recovering fully discharged batteries, even at zero volts, and can reconnect Li-ion batteries with an integrated disconnect function. The controller features comprehensive electronic protections: against overheating (with power reduction), PV short circuits, PV polarity reversal, and PV reverse current. An internal temperature sensor adjusts absorption and floating charge voltages to optimize battery lifespan. External battery voltage and temperature sensors are also supported via Bluetooth (Smart Battery Sense or BMV-712 Smart Battery Monitor) for increased accuracy.
