Network accessories for onboard electronics

This collection includes the components that form the physical layer of embedded networks: backbone cables, drop cables, connectors, terminations, adapters, and power accessories. They connect displays, sensors, power management modules, instruments, and bridges without resorting to improvised setups.

NMEA 2000 backbones and drops

To build or extend an NMEA 2000 backbone, the CZone 2 m, 5 m, or 10 m cables cover common lengths, while the NMEA 2000 micro-C starter backbone kit provides a complete base. Drops, such as the CZone 0.5 m, 1 m, 2 m, or 3 m cables, connect each device to the backbone while minimizing excess length behind the console.

Connectors, terminations, and network bridges

CZone T-connectors, available in single, 2-way, or 4-way versions, simplify clean additions of new equipment. Terminations and protections, such as the RJ45 VE.Can terminator or the MasterBus green cap, prevent open buses and protect unused connectors. For CZone or MasterBus architectures, the MasterBus WiFi connector and the NMEA 2000 network bridge interface module help monitor or interface power management networks.

Ethernet, power, and specialized cables

Navigation electronics networks may also require Ethernet links, antenna cables, or dedicated power cables. Examples include the 1.8 m Ethernet cable, the Ethernet RJ45 adapter cable for Halo Dome radar, the Nemesis interconnection cable, the power cable for Hook2, Hook Reveal & Cruise, or the Active Target 10 ft (3 m) extension cable. Electrical connection accessories, such as the 300 mm MC20 connection cable, complete the installation when the network interfaces with the vessel’s power distribution.

Choosing the right network accessory

Before ordering, verify the protocol in use, connector type, required length, the cable’s role in the installation, and the presence of necessary terminations. An NMEA 2000 backbone is not wired like a simple extension: it must be properly powered, terminated at both ends, and organized to minimize mechanical stress.
