Detailed description
Detailed description
The Airmar CM599LH is a CHIRP cavity transducer designed for depth detection and temperature measurement, offering extended coverage across two distinct frequency bands: low frequency (LF) and high frequency (HF). This CHIRP technology delivers increased resolution and detail, up to 5 to 10 times greater than traditional transducers.
Low Frequency (LF) Band: 28-60 kHz
The low-frequency section of the CM599LH operates within the 28 to 60 kHz range. It features a nominal power of 3 kW (at 1 % duty cycle) and a continuous wave (CW) power of 40 W for CM599 and R599 models, in seawater at 20 °C. Its active surface area is 229.9 cm² (35.63 in²) with an epoxy radiating surface. The -3 dB beam widths are 11°/23° at 28 kHz, 7°/13° at 45 kHz, and 5°/9° at 60 kHz. The C44-type cable has a length of 15 m.
High Frequency (HF) Band: 130-210 kHz
The high-frequency section covers the 130 to 210 kHz range, with a nominal power of 1 kW (at 1 % duty cycle). The active surface area of this element is 33 cm² (5.1 in²) with a urethane radiating surface. The -3 dB beam widths are 8° at 130 kHz, 8° at 150 kHz, and 6° at 210 kHz. The CM599LH transducer integrates a fast-response temperature sensor. The assembly is connected via a 15 m Airmar C44-02 cable.
Design and Applications
Designed for cavity installation, this transducer is specifically suited for fiberglass hulls. It is particularly effective for recreational and commercial fishing, both inshore and offshore, and enables detailed seabed mapping, including deep canyons and seamounts. The CM599LH transducer is a tool for underwater structure exploration and target identification with improved clarity.
