Detailed description
Detailed description
The ALPHAWIRE 1178L multiconductor cable is designed for applications requiring reliable connectivity in demanding environments. This unshielded cable features 8 tinned copper conductors of 22 AWG (0.35mm²), each with LSZH insulation (low smoke, zero halogen) with a nominal thickness of 0.010 inches. The outer LSZH jacket in slate color, with a nominal thickness of 0.025 inches, provides protection against mechanical and environmental stresses.
Electrical Performance and Compliance
With a nominal voltage rating of 300 VRMS, the ALPHAWIRE 1178L cable has a nominal capacitance of 26 pF/ft at 1 kHz between conductors and a nominal inductance of 0.18 µH/ft. The conductor resistance is 16.4 Ω/1000ft at 20°C. Its design meets UL CMG and CSA International FT4 standards, with an operating temperature range of -20 to 75°C. It complies with European RoHS2/RoHS3 and REACH directives, ensuring no hazardous substances are present. Unlike shielded cables, this unshielded version is suitable for applications where electromagnetic interference protection is not critical, offering a simpler and more cost-effective solution for signal transmission.
Safety and Installation
This cable is specifically tested for fire safety, meeting IEC 60332-1 for flame resistance, IEC 60754-1 and 60754-2 for acid gas emission, and IEC 61034-2 for smoke emission. These LSZH certifications make it suitable for installations where the safety of people and equipment is paramount, particularly in confined spaces on vessels. Its flexibility, with a bending radius of 10 times the cable diameter, facilitates routing. The 8-conductor configuration makes this cable more versatile than low-conductor-count cables (e.g., 2 or 4 conductors) for integrating multiple sensors or signals into a single bundle.
