Detailed description
Detailed description
The Radar HALO24 from B&G is a 24-inch pulse-compression radome designed to provide unmatched target detection at short, medium, and long range. Featuring Doppler VelocityTrack™ technology, dual-range simultaneous operation, and a rotation speed of up to 60 RPM at short range, this compact and lightweight radar enhances situational awareness and collision avoidance. It represents a significant advancement over traditional magnetron radars, offering instant-on operation and low power consumption.
Doppler VelocityTrack™ and pulse-compression technology
Doppler VelocityTrack™ technology provides instant visual feedback on radar target motion. A simple color-coding system identifies potential hazards, highlighting targets approaching while reducing visibility of those moving away. The Radar HALO24 automatically processes every visible target, eliminating the need for manual selection. Pulse-compression technology ensures optimal detection at all ranges, while beam sharpening improves separation between small or distant targets.
Operational performance
With a rotation speed of 60 RPM for ranges up to 1.5 nautical miles, the Radar HALO24 delivers near real-time data, essential for avoiding collisions with fast-moving targets. The dual-range function allows simultaneous monitoring of two distinct distance scales from a single radome, for example keeping an eye on a distant weather cell while monitoring nearby fishing pots. The MARPA target-tracking feature can track up to 10 selected targets (or 20 in dual-range mode). Preconfigured modes (Harbor, Large, Weather, Birds) adjust settings to ensure optimal visibility in all conditions.
Radar HALO24 technical specifications
The Radar HALO24 offers a maximum range of 48 nautical miles. Its peak power is 25 W, powered by a 12/24 V DC system. Typical power consumption is 20 W, peaking at 29 W, and 3.9 W in standby. The horizontal beam width is 3.9° nominal (2° with high target separation) and 22° for the vertical beam. The radome measures 610 mm in diameter and 225 mm in height, weighing 6.75 kg without the cable. The unit is IPX6 waterproof and operates in a temperature range from -25°C to +55°C. Connectivity to the B&G multifunction display network is via Ethernet.
