Detailed description
Detailed description
The BEP 720-MDO-EP motorized battery switch is designed for advanced battery bank management on vessels requiring high electrical reliability. This high-capacity model features an emergency parallel function (Emergency Parallel), remotely controllable. Unlike manual battery switches in the BEP 700 series, this model allows temporary coupling of battery banks for 10 minutes via a remote switch, providing an immediate solution in case of starter battery failure. A continuous 6-second press on the control disables this function manually.
Electrical performance and capacities
Designed to integrate with 12V or 24V systems (with a motor operating range of 8 to 32V DC), this switch supports a continuous current of 500A, an intermittent current of 700A, and a starting capacity reaching 2500A. Its electrical consumption is strictly optimized to preserve batteries: it is limited to 5mA at 12V in off position, and 8mA in automatic mode. The internal high-voltage contacts can withstand up to 50V DC for load switching, offering a large safety margin.
Robust design and installation
The 720-MDO-EP construction meets the most demanding marine standards. It is UL 1107 certified (protection against ignition) and has an IP65 ingress protection rating against water and dust ingress. Power transfer is via two robust 12 mm (1/2 inch) tinned copper studs, requiring a recommended tightening torque of 18 Nm. The control circuit wiring is greatly simplified by the use of Wago quick-connect terminals. The unit can be surface-mounted or flush-mounted, perfectly adapting to the space constraints of modern electrical panels.
