Detailed description
Detailed description
The B&G 30/30HV display is a high-visibility mast-mounted display designed to integrate natively with H5000 and Triton instrument systems via the NMEA 2000 network. With its H-Vision technology and high-contrast LCD screen treated with "optically bonded" glass, it serves as the dedicated display link for performance cruising and offshore racing sailboats. Within B&G’s H5000 display hierarchy, the 30/30HV sits between the Race Display (optimized for pure racing) and the Graphic Display H5000 (rich in graphical data at the chart table): it prioritizes long-distance readability from the deck and robustness at the masthead.
H-Vision Technology: Maximum Readability in All Conditions
The 30/30HV features a very high-contrast LCD screen with "optically bonded" treatment, eliminating any risk of internal condensation between the panel and protective glass. Data is displayed in inverted white-on-black mode with 63 mm-high digits, enabling instant reading from any point on deck. Dual night lighting, switchable between red and white, ensures visibility after sunset without impairing crew night vision adaptation. Compared to the Graphic Display H5000, the 30/30HV prioritizes long-distance readability and masthead robustness over graphical richness at the chart table. Against competitors like the Garmin GMI 20 or Raymarine i70s, B&G’s H-Vision technology remains a benchmark for contrast and readability in full sunlight on racing sailboats.
NMEA 2000 Integration and Energy Efficiency
Connection to the network is via a single NMEA 2000 Micro-C connector, which simultaneously handles 12V DC power supply (10–16V range) and all data transmission, significantly simplifying mast wiring. Power consumption is optimized at 0.5W in typical use (1.0W maximum), making it one of B&G’s most energy-efficient displays. The display allows configuration and scrolling through up to 14 customizable data pages: true wind angle (TWA), course over ground (COG), speed over ground (SOG), VMG, heading, and many other variables from the H5000 computer or network sensors.
Marine-Grade Construction and IP67 Certification
The 30/30HV is certified waterproof to IP67 standards, providing full protection against temporary immersion—a higher protection level than the IPX4 required for H5000 system interior modules. Its molded ABS front panel and aluminum alloy rear housing deliver mechanical resistance suitable for masthead or coachroof installation. Dimensions of 249 × 156 × 50 mm and a weight of 1.2 kg make it a compact and robust display, designed to operate in a temperature range from -10°C to +55°C. Manufactured in Mexico under Navico Group quality control, it meets the brand’s industrial traceability standards.
System Compatibility: H5000 and Triton
The 30/30HV is listed in the official architecture diagrams of the H5000 and Triton manuals as the "HV display" dedicated to masthead use. It is compatible with all components in the B&G ecosystem: H5000 CPU, H5000 autopilot computer, analog modules, wind sensors (MHU), speed/depth sensors, Precision-9 compass, and Zeus chartplotters. It can coexist on the same NMEA 2000 bus with the Graphic Display, Race Display, and Zeus MFDs, with each display configured independently to show relevant data for its onboard location.
