Reactor 40 Sail with SmartDrive and GHC 50: complete Garmin autopilot pack for sailboat
The Reactor™ 40 Sail pack with SmartDrive™ and GHC™ 50 display combines the key components of Garmin’s new autopilot for sailboats: Reactor 40 CCU computer, SmartDrive linear actuator with integrated ECU, GHC 50 display, alarm, cables, and basic NMEA 2000 network.
The SmartDrive targets sailboats and catamarans up to 15 tonnes displacement. Its brushless motor, 300 mm stroke, and contactless position sensor deliver precise course-keeping, with adjustable tacks and gybes depending on the boat.
Skysat advice
This pack is the right choice for a new installation requiring a dedicated autopilot helm station. Check the tiller geometry before ordering, the CCU position away from magnetic masses, and the existing NMEA 2000 network. The GHC 50 avoids relying solely on the chartplotter for autopilot settings and control.
