Detailed description
Detailed description
The GARMIN fairing block (010-12928-02) is a mounting accessory designed specifically for the Panoptix LiveScope™ LVS32-TH through-hull transducer. This component is essential for optimizing LiveScope system performance by ensuring precise transducer positioning. Its primary function is to compensate for the boat’s deadrise angle, allowing the LVS32-TH transducer to be installed parallel to the waterline.
LiveScope performance optimization
Installing the fairing block is recommended when the deadrise angle at the transducer mounting point exceeds 5°. By correcting this angle, the GARMIN fairing block ensures the LiveScope LVS32-TH beam, which operates at 530 to 1,100 kHz with 500W power, is oriented correctly. This delivers detailed and accurate real-time sonar images in both LiveScope Forward and LiveScope Down modes, with a maximum depth of 61 meters in Forward mode. Maintaining a stable sonar beam is critical to leveraging the AHRS stabilization integrated into the LVS32-TH transducer, providing a constant view even in rough sea conditions.
Technical installation and compatibility
This fairing block is an integral part of the LVS32-TH through-hull transducer installation process. It must be shaped to match the measured deadrise angle of the hull. Installation requires specific tools such as a band saw or table saw for cutting, as well as 3, 9, 12, 13, 32, and 38 mm drill bits depending on the hull material (fiberglass or metal). Marine sealant and epoxy are also essential for watertight sealing compliant with marine standards. The GARMIN fairing block (010-12928-02) is compatible only with the Panoptix LiveScope™ LVS32-TH transducer and requires the GLS 10 sonar module for full LiveScope system operation.
