Detailed description
Detailed description
The GPSMAP® 723xsv from Garmin is a 7-inch multifunction chartplotter combining three fishfinder technologies into a single unit: traditional CHIRP sonar, ClearVü (high-definition down imaging), and SideVü (side imaging). Shipped with preloaded worldwide chart data, it targets demanding recreational boaters and anglers seeking an integrated solution without compromising underwater imaging quality.
Triple CHIRP, ClearVü, and SideVü fishfinder
The GPSMAP® 723xsv natively integrates Garmin’s three flagship fishfinder technologies. The traditional CHIRP (Compressed High Intensity Radar Pulse) sonar delivers superior target separation and depth accuracy compared to fixed-frequency sonars. ClearVü produces near-photographic images of the bottom and structures beneath the boat, while SideVü scans both sides of the vessel to reveal obstacles, weed beds, and fish schools at significant lateral distances. This triple-sonar combination sets the 723xsv apart from its counterpart, the GPSMAP® 723, which only includes traditional CHIRP sonar without ClearVü or SideVü. Compared to the larger GPSMAP® 923xsv (9-inch) or 1223xsv (12-inch) models in the same series, the 723xsv offers identical sonar capabilities in a compact 7-inch format, ideal for smaller helm consoles.
Mapping and marine networking
The GPSMAP® 723xsv ships with preloaded worldwide chart data covering coastal areas and inland waterways globally. It is compatible with Garmin BlueChart® g3 and LakeVü g3 maps to enhance chart coverage based on the cruising area. Integrated into the Garmin Marine Network, it can share sonar, chart, and video data with other compatible chartplotters aboard. NMEA 2000® and NMEA 0183 connectivity enables integration with navigation instruments, autopilots, AIS receivers, and third-party equipment. Compatibility with IP cameras via the Garmin Marine Network (with PoE coupler 010-10580-10) also allows integration of FLIR® thermal cameras or network surveillance cameras. Compared to competitors like the Raymarine Axiom 7 RV or B&G Vulcan 7R, the GPSMAP® 723xsv stands out for the depth of the Garmin ecosystem and the proven quality of ClearVü and SideVü imaging.
Position in the GPSMAP® 7x3 series
The GPSMAP® 723xsv belongs to Garmin’s 7x3 series, which succeeds the 7x2 series. An adapter plate (GPSMAP 7x3/9x3/12x3 Adapter Plate) allows installation of a 7x3-series unit in a cutout designed for a 7x2, simplifying upgrades without major console modifications. This chartplotter also supports integration of third-party network cameras via the Garmin Marine Network, with built-in video encoding enabling video stream sharing across all network displays aboard.
