Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for coastal and offshore fishing, the Garmin GT51M-TM (010-01966-00) is a versatile transom-mount sonar solution integrating three distinct sonar technologies. This 12-pin transducer combines traditional CHIRP sonar, ClearVü sonar, and SideVü sonar, providing complete underwater coverage from a single installation.
Detailed Sonar Performance
The GT51M-TM’s traditional CHIRP sonar operates on a mid-band frequency (80-160 kHz) with 600 W power, reaching a maximum depth of 1,800 feet. It delivers clear fish arches and optimized target separation thanks to a beam width of 24 to 13 degrees. For structure imaging, the CHIRP ClearVü and SideVü sonars operate at frequencies of 260 kHz (245-275 kHz) and 455 kHz (445-465 kHz), respectively, with 500 W power per element. ClearVü achieves a maximum depth of 1,000 feet, while SideVü reaches 750 feet. Specific beam widths are 2.0° x 51° at 260 kHz and 1.4° x 29° at 455 kHz, producing photographic-quality images of structures and fish below and beside the boat. A fast-response temperature sensor is also integrated, providing valuable environmental data.
Installation and Compatibility
The Garmin GT51M-TM is a transom-mount transducer designed for simplified installation. It ships with 30 feet of cable and all necessary mounting hardware. Its design supports transom angles from 0 to 70 degrees, making it adaptable to a variety of hull shapes. This transducer is compatible with a range of Garmin multifunction displays, including the GPSMAP 7600xsv series, GSD25 sonar modules, and Garmin echoMAP CHIRP sv, ECHOMAP Plus, and UHD sv units. Positioned within Garmin’s lineup, the GT51M-TM offers a robust intermediate solution, distinguished from single-frequency transducers or entry-level scanning models by its integrated sonar technologies and optimized performance in rough sea conditions—an advantage over other transducers whose signals may degrade in turbulent waters.
