Detailed description
Detailed description
The Garmin OnDeck™ wired shore power sensor (part number 010-13009-08) is a component of the Garmin OnDeck system, designed for remote monitoring of your vessel’s shore power supply. It checks for the presence of shore power, a critical factor for battery charging and the operation of AC equipment on board.
Integration and operation
This sensor must be connected to a Garmin OnDeck hub (OnDeck Hub, Cortex® M1 Hub, or Cortex® V1 Hub) to function. Once integrated, it transmits the shore power status, enabling users to receive real-time alerts via the ActiveCaptain® app in the event of a power outage. This feature provides continuous monitoring, even when away from the boat.
Technical specifications
The wired version of this sensor is compatible with an AC input voltage of 90 to 264 V, offering broad adaptability to different electrical installations. It provides a 5 V DC output voltage. The sensor is made of polymer, a material suitable for the marine environment. Installation requires a direct connection to the boat’s AC shore power supply, following safety guidelines and ABYC standards for connectors and overcurrent protection (2 to 5 A device within 175 mm of the source). The sensor’s four wires are 18 AWG (0.82 mm²) gauge, and the maximum steady-state AC input current is 25 mA when connected to the OnDeck system.
