Clean water: The transducer must be mounted in an area where the water is clean (non-turbulent), away from turbulence generated by the propeller, strakes, reinforcements, fittings, water intakes or discharges.Centreline: For best results, mount the transducer as close as possible to the boat’s centreline.Mounting angle: For the down-looking transducer, adjust the bracket so that the transducer points straight down. The internal AHRS sensor detects the mounting angle and compensates for boat motion.Cable routing: Cables must be routed on the starboard side of the boat, away from electrical wiring or other sources of electrical interference.

Electromagnetic interference (EMI): Ensure proper grounding of the sonar device and other equipment. Route the transducer cable away from power cables or other sources of electrical interference (engines, radios, radar). If the cable must cross a power cable, orient them at 90 degrees.

Interference from turbulence: Mount the transducer in clean water, away from hull elements (planks, steps, ribs) or equipment (propeller, water intakes) that create turbulence. Avoid areas affected by propeller wash.

Acoustic interference: Mount the transducer away from propellers, shafts, cables, and other machinery. If using multiple transducers, mount them at least 60 cm (24 in) apart, especially if they operate on the same frequency.

Additional tip: Regularly clean the transducer face to prevent fouling that can degrade performance.
