Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for fishing and navigation, the Garmin Panoptix™ PS30 sonar provides real-time sonar imaging for a detailed and dynamic view beneath the vessel. This downward-viewing transducer allows users to visualize fish, lures, and underwater structures with immediate clarity, even when the boat is stationary. Unlike traditional sonars that display a historical bottom view, the Panoptix PS30 delivers live data, offering an instant understanding of activity beneath the hull.
Real-Time Sonar Capabilities
The Garmin Panoptix™ PS30 sonar integrates three distinct display modes for a comprehensive understanding of the underwater environment. The LiveVü Down mode provides real-time moving sonar images, allowing you to track fish and bait movements beneath the boat. You can observe lures and fish reactions to their approach, offering a "live view" fishing experience.
For three-dimensional analysis, the RealVü 3D Down mode displays a 3D representation of what is below the boat, useful when stationary by showing the history of a single sweep. The RealVü 3D Historical mode is optimized for fish detection when the boat is moving, visualizing the scanned water column in 3D, from the bottom to the surface, with all objects and fish present.
Technical Specifications and Design
The Garmin Panoptix™ PS30 operates at a frequency of 417 kHz with a power output of 144 W, offering a maximum depth of 90 meters (300 feet). Its dimensions are 9.1 x 4.2 x 17 cm with a weight of 800 g (transducer only). Power requirements include a voltage range of 10 to 35 V DC with a maximum consumption of 10 W.
Beam widths vary by mode:
- LiveVü Down: 120°/10°, 120°/20°, 120°/40° (+/- 45° forward/aft)
- RealVü Historical: 120° x 6°
- RealVü Down: 90° x 120°
- General: 120° x 60°
Installation and Compatibility
The Panoptix™ PS30 sonar is supplied with a transom mount kit. For optimal performance, installation must be carried out in an area of calm water, away from sources of acoustic or electromagnetic interference (engines, electrical cables, other transducers) and outside the flow generated by the propeller or hull appendages. Cables must be routed on the starboard side of the vessel for correct default display orientation on the chartplotter.
This transducer is compatible with a selection of Garmin chartplotters, including the Garmin GPSMAP series (such as 723/923/1223, 8410/8412/8416, 7xx/7xxx, 8xxx, 85xx Black Box) and the Garmin ECHOMAP series (such as Ultra 102/122 sv, UHD2 62/72/92 sv, UHD 72/92 sv, UHD 72 cv, and the 70 series).
