Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for anglers seeking clear underwater imaging and essential navigation features, the Garmin STRIKER™ Vivid 7cv with GT20-TM transducer is a versatile fishfinder/GPS combo. The unit integrates advanced sonar technologies and a color display for precise fish and structure detection. It provides a complete solution to enhance fishing experience with sharp sonar images and custom mapping capabilities.
Display and Sonar Technologies
The 7-inch WVGA display, with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, is optimized for readability in bright sunlight and features 10-level backlighting. It offers 7 new vivid color palettes, improving contrast and clarity for better target distinction. The STRIKER Vivid 7cv uses Garmin’s traditional CHIRP sonar for defined fish arches and optimized target separation, as well as CHIRP ClearVü scanning sonar for near-photographic images of submerged structures and fish. With a 500 W (RMS) transmit power, it reaches a maximum depth of 579 meters (1,900 feet) in freshwater and 335 meters (1,100 feet) in saltwater for traditional sonar, and up to 228 meters (750 feet) for ClearVü sonar. Supported sonar frequencies for the GT20-TM transducer include 50/77/200 kHz for traditional sonar and 260/455/800 kHz (specifically 435–475 kHz and 800–840 kHz) for ClearVü.
Navigation and Connectivity
Featuring an integrated high-sensitivity GPS antenna, the STRIKER Vivid 7cv enables precise waypoint marking to log fishing spots, docks, and boat ramps. The Quickdraw Contours feature allows creating and storing HD fishing maps with 1-foot contour lines, covering up to 2 million acres. Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity links to the ActiveCaptain® app for waypoint transfer, smart notifications, and access to the Garmin Quickdraw community. The integrated GPS is also used for route planning, creation, and displaying boat speed.
Installation and Durability
The STRIKER Vivid 7cv combo comes with a 4-pin GT20-TM transducer, featuring a 6-meter (20-foot) cable and a fast-response temperature sensor. The transducer is compatible with transom or trolling motor mounts. The main unit housing measures 23.5 x 14.0 x 5.8 cm (9.3" x 5.5" x 2.3") and weighs 770 grams (1.7 lbs). It carries an IPX7 waterproof rating, ensuring resistance to marine environments. Mounting options include a tilt/swivel bracket, along with hardware for transom and trolling motor installation. Power input requires 12–20 V DC, with a power consumption of 6.6 W. For optimal performance, route the transducer cable away from electrical interference sources such as ignition wires or batteries.
Product Positioning
The Garmin STRIKER Vivid 7cv positions itself as a dedicated fish-finding and navigation solution, targeting anglers who prioritize detailed sonar performance and custom mapping capabilities without the complexity of multifunction chartplotters. Within the STRIKER Vivid lineup, the 7cv model strikes a balance between screen size and portability, distinguishing itself from the STRIKER Vivid 5cv with its larger display and from the STRIKER Vivid 9cv with its more compact form factor. Compared to the Garmin ECHOMAP series, known for preloaded marine charts and extended NMEA 2000 network connectivity, the STRIKER Vivid 7cv excels in its specific fishing domain, offering key features like Quickdraw Contours and Vivid color palettes for a targeted and efficient user experience.
