Garmin’s VEU008R-Bay of Biscay is a BlueChart g3 Vision HD marine chart supplied on microSD™/SD™ card, providing detailed navigation data for the Bay of Biscay. This product combines Garmin and Navionics® content for comprehensive coverage and clarity, extending from Binic, France, to Cabo Finisterre, Spain.
Advanced navigation features
The chart integrates Auto Guidance technology, which quickly calculates a suggested route based on user-defined depth and air clearance while highlighting nearby obstructions. The Depth Range Shading function displays high-resolution coloration for up to 10 user-defined depth ranges, enabling rapid identification of target areas. Shallow Water Shading colors shallow waters at a defined depth, providing a clear visualization of areas to avoid.
Chart detail and imagery
The VEU008R-Bay of Biscay features detailed contours down to 30 cm (1 foot), ensuring precise representation of seabed structure—useful for fishing and navigation in various waterways. High-resolution satellite imagery overlays navigation charts, offering a realistic view of surroundings. 3-D views are also available with FishEye View for underwater perspective and MarinerEye View for above- and below-waterline representation. Integration of aerial photographs provides details on numerous ports, harbors, and marinas.
Integration and community
The chart is compatible with Garmin handheld devices and marine multifunction displays. It also includes high-resolution bathymetric shading, combining colors and shadows for simplified seabed profile interpretation, aiding in locating artificial reefs and other features (free download via ActiveCaptain app). ActiveCaptain community integration provides access to points of interest (POIs) such as marinas, anchorages, hazards, and businesses.
