Humminbird Piranha MAX4 color fishfinder with transom-mount transducer (410150-1)

The Humminbird Piranha MAX4 color fishfinder with transom-mount transducer is designed for efficient underwater detection. This system includes a control display and a dedicated transducer for installation on the transom, providing a solution for navigation and fishing.

Control display installation

Installing the control display requires a stable mounting surface capable of protecting it from excessive vibrations and water spray. It must be positioned for optimal visibility and allow free movement of the unit (tilt and swivel). The power supply must be 12 VDC and protected by a 1 Amp fuse. A 0.2 cm power cable is provided, which can be extended using 18 AWG multistrand copper wire. The control display mount is a tilt-and-swivel model, assembled with four RS screws and secured to the mounting surface via 50AP (3.0 mm) drilled holes. Cables can be routed under the deck through a 3/4" (10 mm) hole.

Transom-mount transducer installation

Transom-mount installation minimizes signal loss as the transducer is mounted outside the hull. It allows adjustment of the operating angle and depth after installation to optimize results. It is important to choose a location relatively free of turbulence, away from propellers (at least 38.1 cm for moderate-speed boats) and areas of disturbed water flow. The transducer must be mounted parallel to the waterline and fully submerged during use. A 6 mm gap for fiberglass hulls or 3 mm for aluminum hulls is recommended between the bottom of the bracket and the hull bottom. The transducer is assembled with a swivel arm and is secured to the transom using #55 - 1 25/4 screws, allowing vertical and horizontal angle adjustment to align the transducer just below the hull and nearly parallel to the boat bottom.
