Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for tight spaces and crowded consoles, the IC-M400BBE black box marine VHF from Icom offers a modular and high-performance communication solution. By placing the central unit out of sight, this radio allows for full control from a remote CommandMic microphone, ensuring a clean dashboard. Please note: this product is now discontinued by the manufacturer and advantageously replaced by the new generation models IC-M410BB and IC-M510BB. However, it remains an excellent opportunity at a reduced price for standard replacement of an existing installation.
Radio Performance and Class D DSC Safety
Featuring switchable 25W or 1W transmission power, this VHF covers the frequency range of 156.000 to 161.450 MHz. It integrates an independent receiver dedicated to channel 70 for the Class D DSC (Digital Selective Calling) function, ensuring constant monitoring of distress calls even during regular communications. Its frequency stability of ±1.5 kHz guarantees clear transmissions in a demanding marine environment, with an operating range of -20 °C to +60 °C.
NMEA 0183 Integration and Powerful Audio
The IC-M400BBE central unit easily interfaces with onboard navigation equipment via the NMEA 0183 protocol (version 2.0 or higher) for receiving GPS data (RMC, GGA, GNS, GLL sentences). On the audio side, it features an integrated amplifier delivering over 10W of power (into 4 Ω) for connecting an external speaker or a foghorn (PA function), ensuring maximum audibility on deck. The compact housing (approx. 216 x 79 x 125 mm for 830 g) benefits from IPX7 waterproofing, allowing it to withstand temporary immersion without compromising vessel safety.
