Detailed description
Detailed description
The JL Audio MHD750/1 marine amplifier is a single-block Class D model designed for marine audio systems. It delivers 750 watts RMS with an extended frequency response from 6 Hz to 8 kHz, making it suitable for subwoofers as well as mid-bass or mid-tweeter speaker systems.
Advanced Audio Technologies
This amplifier features JL Audio’s patented Single Cycle Control™ Class D technology, which corrects the audio signal more than 400,000 times per second for precise amplification and minimal distortion. The R.I.P.S. (Regulated, Intelligent Power Supply) power supply optimizes output power, delivering a constant 750W RMS across impedances ranging from 1.5 to 4 ohms. This design also ensures stable power output across a voltage range of 11 to 14.5 volts, contributing to improved audio fidelity.
Robust Marine Design
The MHD750/1 is engineered to withstand marine environments. It features white and gray epoxy powder finishes, a sealed control cover, stainless steel hardware, and a corrosion-resistant aluminum chassis. The circuit boards are coated with a conformal coating for enhanced protection against saltwater, spray, and UV exposure. Its RealSink™ thermal management system uses vertically cast alloy heat sink fins for efficient fanless cooling, allowing compact stacking of amplifiers.
Integration and Installation
With compact dimensions (49 mm H x 273 mm W x 199 mm D) and a weight of 3.69 kg, the MHD750/1 offers flexible installation options. It includes balanced differential inputs to minimize noise and a flexible crossover section with high-pass or low-pass filter modes (50–500 Hz, 12 or 24 dB/octave) and a switchable 30 Hz infrasonic filter (24 dB/octave). The preamplified outputs allow cascading the signal to additional amplifiers. Power and speaker terminals are removable for simplified installation. A 60A fuse is recommended for protection, with minimum 4 AWG copper power/ground wiring.
