An EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) is an essential safety device designed to alert search and rescue services in case of distress at sea.

The Kannad SAFEPRO AIS PLUS beacon combines multiple technologies for rapid and precise location:

406 MHz: It transmits a global distress signal via the COSPAS-SARSAT satellite system, enabling international alerts. Its MEOSAR compatibility ensures accelerated detection.
AIS (Automatic Identification System): It transmits on frequencies 161.975 MHz and 162.025 MHz, allowing nearby vessels and rescue teams to detect and precisely locate the beacon.
GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System): A 92-channel integrated receiver uses GPS (L1) and Galileo (E1) constellations at 1575.42 MHz to provide accurate position coordinates.
VHF 121.5 MHz: A VHF transmitter with a swept signal is included for final homing by rescue teams.
It also features an optical strobe light with 3 high-intensity LED points for enhanced visibility.

For optimal performance, the EPIRB beacon must be mounted outside the vessel’s structure, as high as possible.

Avoid the following positions:

Within 1 meter of any compass equipment.
Within 2 meters of any antenna.
In positions where space is insufficient for lid ejection and maintenance.
This model ships with a manual mount consisting of two parts: a secure transport holder that contains the deactivation magnet and a docking station to be permanently fixed to the vessel’s bulkhead.

This EPIRB beacon uses a lithium iron disulfide battery.

The battery has a storage life of 10 years from its date of manufacture. Once activated in an emergency, the beacon has a minimum operating autonomy of 48 hours.

Battery replacement is recommended by an authorized service agent after 10 years or if battery use exceeds recommended limits during self-tests.

Your beacon comes with a standard one-year (12-month) warranty from the date of purchase shown on your invoice.

This warranty can be extended by four additional years, bringing the total warranty to five years, by simply registering your unit online within 90 days of purchase.

Here are the steps to activate in an emergency:

Remove the beacon completely from its bracket.If time permits, lift the red cover marked "ON".Press the activation button for 2 seconds.Unroll the lanyard from the beacon and attach it to the liferaft or a fixed point.Throw the beacon into the water. It will activate automatically if you did not have time to press the activation button.It is crucial to activate the beacon only in a real emergency, as false alerts endanger lives.
