The MADINTEC MAD Interface Mast, also known as MADMast, is a high-performance wind acquisition module designed to integrate at the core of the MADINTEC MADBrain autopilot system. This essential component is the backbone of ultra-precise wind data acquisition, with processing capabilities up to 50 Hz, a feature derived from the technical requirements of the America’s Cup and the Vendée Globe.
Precision wind acquisition and processing
The MAD Interface Mast provides an NMEA 0183 interface for wind sensors, ensuring extensive compatibility with ultrasonic sensors and passive (potentiometric) or active (0–5 V) mast angle sensors. Its primary function is the rigorous verification and validation of wind data before transmission to the MADBrain processor. This high-frequency data acquisition and quality are critical for the MADBrain’s artificial intelligence algorithms, enabling unparalleled real-wind calculations and optimized trajectory anticipation.
Advanced reliability and protection
Designed for demanding marine environments, the MADMast integrates protection against short circuits and electromagnetic interference on the mast line. It also features automatic sensor restart in safe mode, ensuring essential service continuity during navigation.
