Detailed description
Detailed description
The Mastervolt Magic 12/12-20A charger-converter is designed to meet the requirements of professional marine electrical systems. Capable of converting and stabilizing a 12V DC input (range 11 to 16V) to a strictly maintained 13.6V output, it delivers a continuous power output of 300W (20A). Its design is based on a high-frequency switching architecture, ensuring efficiency above 90%, while minimizing thermal dissipation. This model is particularly suited to compensate for voltage drops in the onboard network when activating high-power consumers.
Essential galvanic isolation
Unlike standard converters or the Mac series from the same brand, the Magic series features full galvanic isolation between input and output. This technical feature is crucial for eliminating ground loops and electromagnetic interference (EMC). It effectively protects sensitive navigation equipment such as NMEA networks, VHF/BLU communication systems, and chartplotters from onboard electrical disturbances.
Three integrated operating modes
This module is not limited to voltage conversion. It also functions as a precision stabilized power supply and integrates a 3-stage charging algorithm (Bulk, Absorption, Float). In charger mode, it delivers 16A to autonomously recharge a secondary 12V battery bank (compatible with lead-acid, Gel, AGM, and lithium-ion batteries). Additionally, a dimmer function can be activated via DIP switches to control lighting circuits without wasting energy as heat.
System integration and scalability
Designed for extreme reliability with an MTBF of 180,000 hours, the Magic 12/12-20A allows parallel mounting for installations requiring currents above 100A. Although it operates autonomously thanks to its DIP switch settings, it is fully configurable via MasterAdjust software (PC-Link connection) and can integrate into a MasterBus network via a dedicated serial interface. Its compact IP21 housing requires installation in a ventilated space protected from direct moisture.
