Detailed description
Detailed description
The Navico fuel flow sensor is a technical solution designed for precise monitoring of fuel consumption on gasoline-powered boats. Integrated into an NMEA 2000 network via its Micro-C CAN bus connectivity, this sensor provides essential data for optimized navigation management and route planning. It is powered by 12 V DC and protected by a 5 A fuse, ensuring reliable integration into the vessel's electrical system.
Performance and technical specifications
This Navico sensor is optimized to measure fuel flows ranging from 0.6 to 45 US gallons per hour, approximately 2.27 to 170 litres per hour. It is designed for fuel lines with a 3/8" diameter and maintains a minimum backpressure of 0.5 psi at 20 US gallons per hour. The direction of fuel flow is clearly indicated by an arrow on the sensor, facilitating installation between the tank and the engine. It is recommended to install a fuel filter before each sensor to ensure the purity of the measured fuel. The sensor transmits specific NMEA 2000 PGNs, including 59392 (ISO Acknowledgment), 59904, 60928, 126996, and 127489, enabling extended compatibility with multifunction displays and data management systems.
Integration and compliance
With its 3-meter cable, the Navico fuel flow sensor offers installation flexibility. It complies with NMEA 2000 and IEC61162-1/2 standards, as well as CE certifications under the EMC directive 2004/108/EC and the radio equipment directive 2008 (level 2 devices), ensuring its reliability and compliance with maritime requirements. Compared to similar solutions from brands like Garmin or Raymarine, the Navico sensor integrates seamlessly into the brand ecosystem (B&G, Lowrance, Simrad), ensuring smooth integration with displays and fuel management software of these systems. It allows the fuel data manager to compile usage information from up to three NMEA 2000-compatible engines, providing a valuable fleet management overview.
