Detailed description
Detailed description
The Navico NEP-3 is an Ethernet network switch designed specifically for marine environments, acting as a central hub to interconnect multifunction displays, radars, depth sounders, and other peripherals from Simrad, B&G, and Lowrance brands. With its 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports, it enables the construction of an integrated, reliable, and ultra-high-speed navigation system, essential for modern equipment.
Optimized Gigabit network performance
Unlike its predecessor, the NEP-2, which was limited to 100 Mbps, the NEP-3 delivers Gigabit speeds (1 Gbps) on each of its 5 ports. This increased bandwidth is critical for rapid transfer of large data volumes, particularly for pulse-compression radars such as the Halo series or high-resolution depth sounder modules. The ports are equipped with M12 connectors with X-coding, an industrial standard known for its robustness and waterproofing (IPX6 and IPX7), surpassing standard RJ45 connectors in marine environments.
Robust design for marine environments
The NEP-3 housing is certified to IPX6 and IPX7 standards, ensuring complete protection against powerful water jets and temporary immersion. Its extended operating temperature range, from -15 °C to 55 °C, guarantees consistent reliability even in the most demanding marine conditions. With a maximum power consumption of only 2.5 W (0.18 A at 13.8 V DC) and compatibility with 12 to 24 V DC power supplies, this switch integrates easily into any vessel's electrical system. Clear LED indicators provide visual feedback on power status and activity for each Ethernet port, simplifying diagnostics. Its weight of 0.48 kg and 0.5 m compass-safe distance facilitate installation.
