Detailed description
Detailed description
The Navico NSPL-500 antenna splitter is a compact and lightweight solution designed to allow an AIS transponder and a VHF radio to share a single antenna. This equipment eliminates the need to install a second VHF antenna, saving space, reducing weight and windage, especially on sailboats. Its robust design and performance make it a preferred choice for new installations or refits.
Performance and Reliability
The NSPL-500 stands out for its very low insertion loss, an essential criterion for not degrading VHF and AIS performance. When transmitting, the loss is typically 1 dB, thus preserving the range of your communications. When receiving, the loss is zero (0 dB), ensuring maximum sensitivity for receiving AIS targets and VHF calls. The splitter incorporates a "failsafe" design that gives absolute priority to the VHF radio; in case of power failure to the splitter, the connection of the VHF to the antenna is maintained to ensure safety communications. Its very low power consumption, less than 150 mA at 12 VDC, minimizes the impact on the vessel's power budget.
Installation and Integration
With dimensions of 152 x 98 x 52 mm and weighing 260 g, the NSPL-500 can be discreetly installed in any technical space. It is compatible with a power supply from 9.6 to 31.2 VDC, thus adapting to 12V and 24V systems. The housing is fully waterproof to IP67 standard, ensuring complete protection against dust and immersion. The device has dedicated connectors for the antenna, VHF radio, AIS transponder (compatible with Class B up to 12.5 W), and even an output for an FM radio receiver. LED indicators allow visualization of the power status and the transmission activity of the VHF and AIS.
