Detailed description
Detailed description
The Navico SplitShot Skimmer fishfinder is a 2-in-1 transducer designed to optimize underwater detection. It combines High CHIRP sonar technology with a wide-angle beam and DownScan Imaging™ for a complete view of fish and structures. This transducer positions itself as a versatile and cost-effective solution, standing out from traditional single-frequency transducers with its dual capability. While it does not match advanced multibeam systems like Garmin Panoptix or Lowrance Active Imaging 3-in-1, the SplitShot Skimmer offers excellent value for anglers seeking an effective combination of traditional sonar and structural imaging, specifically optimized for Lowrance HOOK² and HOOK Reveal combos.
Detailed Sonar Performance
The SplitShot Skimmer operates on specific frequencies for each technology. Traditional High CHIRP sonar uses a frequency of 200 kHz, reaching a maximum depth of 152 meters (500 feet) with a beam width of 44° at -3 dB. For DownScan Imaging™, two frequencies are available: 455 kHz and 800 kHz. At 455 kHz, the maximum depth is 91 meters (300 feet) with a beam width of 55/3°. At 800 kHz, the maximum depth is 46 meters (150 feet) with a beam width of 35/1.6°. This versatility enables precise identification of targets and underwater structures.
Design and Integration
Weighing 0.26 kg and featuring a 6-meter (20-foot) cable, the SplitShot transducer is designed for flexible installation. It offers options for transom or bow-mount electric motor installation, ensuring an optimal position for undisturbed water flow. The 8-pin connector (with 4 pins used) ensures reliable connectivity to compatible units. The transducer provides depth and water temperature data. Its robustness is confirmed by operating temperatures from -15°C to +55°C and storage temperatures from -30°C to +70°C, ensuring reliability in various marine conditions. Its maximum operating speed is 57 knots (55 mph), making it suitable for a wide range of fishing vessels.
