Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for marine installations requiring robust network connectivity, the Raymarine A80228 10-meter antenna cable with RayNet connector provides a reliable link for compatible electronic systems. This cable is specifically suited for connecting devices requiring high bandwidth, such as Raymarine digital radars, to the brand’s multifunction displays (MFD).
RayNet connectivity for Raymarine systems
The RayNet connector, exclusive to Raymarine, uses an Ethernet-type interface to ensure fast and stable data transfer. The A80228 cable integrates with the SeaTalkhs network, enabling communication between MFDs in the Axiom, Element, eS Series, gS Series ranges, and other RayNet devices. This 10-meter specification makes it a solution for medium distances, such as between a radar mast and the helm console, where a 3- or 5-meter cable would be too short and a 20-meter cable potentially excessive.
Integration and performance
This cable maintains signal integrity for critical radar data or other high-throughput sensors. Unlike generic Ethernet cables, the RayNet connector is designed for the marine environment, offering waterproofing and vibration resistance. It differs from NMEA 2000 cables, which handle lower data rates, by being dedicated to high-bandwidth applications within the Raymarine ecosystem. The Raymarine A80228 is an essential component for extending or optimizing an existing RayNet network, ensuring compatibility and performance as expected from a Raymarine installation.
