Detailed description
Detailed description
The Raymarine AIS 700 transponder is a Class B+ transceiver utilizing SO-TDMA technology. Unlike traditional Class B AIS systems (CSTDMA) limited to a 2W transmission power, this model transmits at 5W. This architecture allows it to prioritize its place in the AIS network, ensuring increased range and faster position updates, a decisive advantage in busy shipping lanes where it approaches the responsiveness of Class A equipment.
Simplified Integration with VHF Splitter
The main advantage of this transponder lies in its integrated VHF antenna splitter. It eliminates the need for a second dedicated AIS antenna, allowing the use of the boat's main VHF antenna for both voice and AIS data simultaneously, without signal degradation. Compared to competing solutions requiring separate boxes, the Raymarine AIS 700 centralizes installation, reducing wiring and clutter.
NMEA Connectivity and Marine Robustness
On the network side, the device features NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 interfaces for direct integration with multifunction displays in the Axiom range or chartplotters from other brands. A USB port is also present for initial programming via a PC. Powered by 12 or 24VDC and benefiting from IPX6 and IPX7 waterproof certifications, this 2.5 kg module is designed to withstand the most demanding marine environments.
