Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for demanding marine and industrial environments, the Victron Energy Blue Smart IP67 Charger 24/8 provides a robust and connected battery charging solution. This 24V battery charger with an 8A charging current stands out with its IP67 protection rating, ensuring complete water, oil, and dust resistance. Its die-cast aluminum housing and resin-encapsulated electronic components provide shock resistance and protection against ignition, making it ideal for installations in wet bilges, engine rooms, or exposed compartments.
Performance and energy efficiency
The Blue Smart IP67 Charger 24/8 sets a new standard with 96% efficiency, minimizing heat dissipation compared to conventional chargers. Its standby power consumption is less than 0.5 watts once the battery is fully charged, reducing the impact on the vessel's electrical consumption. It features a microprocessor-controlled 5-step adaptive charging algorithm (bulk – absorption – recondition – float – storage) that optimizes the charging process based on battery usage. The storage mode reduces the float voltage to 2.2 V/cell (26.4 V for a 24V battery) to minimize gassing and positive plate corrosion, with weekly equalization to prevent electrolyte stratification and sulfation.
Connectivity and versatility
This model is equipped with Bluetooth Smart technology, enabling remote control and monitoring via the VictronConnect app from a smartphone or tablet. This feature provides access to settings, voltage, charging current, and charge cycle status, making its management similar to that of Victron IP22 and IP65 chargers. The charger is compatible with lead-acid and Li-ion batteries, with the latter charged using a simplified bulk – absorption – float algorithm. It also includes a recovery function for deeply discharged batteries, including Li-ion batteries with internal disconnect. Its overheat protection allows operation up to 60 °C, with progressive reduction of the output current without charger failure—a useful feature in hot environments.
