Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for rapid and efficient bilge drainage in the confined spaces of recreational vessels, the Whale Supersub 1100 - 24 V automatic bilge pump (SS1224) features a low-profile, narrow design. It incorporates an electric field sensor for fully automatic operation, eliminating the need for a separate bilge switch.
Performance and Design
The Whale SS1224 pump operates on 24 V D.C. and delivers an open-circuit flow rate of up to 66 litres per minute (1100 US GPH) at 27.2 V D.C. At a discharge head of 1 metre, the flow rate remains at 47 litres per minute (750 GPH). Its current draw is 2.2 amperes, with a recommended fuse of 2.5 amperes. Suggested wiring is 1.5 mm² (16 AWG). The drainage level can reach 9 mm of water.
Its compact dimensions (height 75 mm, width 54 mm, length 240 mm) allow it to reach bilge areas inaccessible to other pumps. The construction includes a high-temperature polypropylene and ABS body, a PBT or glass-reinforced polypropylene rotor, nitrile seals, and stainless steel fasteners. The electronics are fully waterproof, and switching is solid-state, with no moving parts.
Features and Installation
The Supersub 1100 is equipped with an integrated purge ball to prevent air pockets and ensure consistent performance. A non-return valve is also integrated into the 1100 models. Its design allows for rotation of the outlet and pump body to accommodate various installation configurations. The strainer is easy to clean and can be removed by simple snap-fit.
This pump is stable and unaffected by wave motion, avoiding unnecessary pumping cycles. It complies with ISO 8849 and ISO 15083 standards, is ignition-protected per ABYC and USCG requirements, and carries CE certification. The pump is intended for use in the bilges of recreational vessels up to 24 metres (78.8 feet) when used as a single or primary bilge pump. The hose connections are 25 mm (1″) or 28 mm (1 1/8″) BSP.
