Detailed description
Detailed description
The B&G Hercules® Expansion Processor is an extension module designed to vastly increase the data collection capabilities of B&G navigation systems. It works in conjunction with main navigation processors such as the Triton™ Edge™, Hercules® or Hercules® WTP, enabling the integration of a wide range of analog and serial sensors for comprehensive performance analysis, whether in regattas or high-performance cruising.
Massive expansion of input/output capabilities
This module adds specialized connectivity to your navigation hub. It features 9 analog 12-bit channels, 3 pulse channels and 2 bidirectional serial ports (NMEA 0183 compatible). This setup allows connection of non-NMEA 2000 sensors such as load cells, custom angle sensors, existing analog instruments or other serial devices. Connection to the main processor is via one of two 100BASE-T Ethernet ports, ensuring stable, high-speed data transfer. For safety, it also includes 2 configurable alarm outputs and a dedicated input for a "Man Overboard" (MOB) button.
Professional integration and configuration
The Hercules® Expansion Processor seamlessly integrates into the B&G ecosystem. Collected data is centralized by the main processor and broadcast across the network for display on Triton™ 2, H5000, Nemesis™ displays, HV instruments, and Vulcan™ and Zeus® chartplotters. Input configuration, sensor calibration and data management are handled via an intuitive web interface, accessible via Ethernet from a computer or through the B&G app. Software updates are installed simply via the microSD™ card slot (up to 256 GB, FAT32 format).
Technical specifications
Built for the marine environment, the enclosure is waterproof to IPX6 and IPX7 standards. It operates on 12V or 24V DC power (9.0 to 31.2 V DC range), with a maximum consumption of 19 W at 13.8 V (3A fuse recommended). Operating temperature range is from -15 °C to +55 °C. The unit weighs 0.70 kg and includes full connectivity: 2 Ethernet ports (RJ45), 2 NMEA 0183 serial ports, 9 analog inputs, 3 pulse inputs, 2 alarm outputs and a microSD™ port.
