Detailed description
Detailed description
The OPC-1540 connection cable by Icom is a 6-meter cable specifically designed for connecting remote accessories to your marine VHF installation, including the HM-162E control microphone. It ensures reliable transmission of communication and power signals between the radio base and the external control station, guaranteeing optimal audio quality and control.
Integration and scalability of the Icom system
This cable provides essential mounting flexibility for complex marine setups. Unlike standard cables with limited reach, the OPC-1540 is designed to be modular. It can be paired with one or two additional extension cables from the same range, the OPC-1541 (also 6 meters), allowing a maximum remote distance of 18 meters. This architecture makes it the ideal solution for vessels requiring a communication station far from the main transceiver.
Audio connection and external speakers
The OPC-1540 cable bundle also includes the necessary specifications for directly connecting external waterproof speakers, such as the 2.5-inch or 4-inch Polyplanar models (5W RMS / 10W PEAK). Wiring identification is simplified for installers: the yellow wire serves as the audio hot spot, while the black wire corresponds to the audio ground. This design enables clean and quick integration of sound amplification systems on deck or in the cockpit.
