Detailed description
Detailed description
The Icom VHF IC-M25EURO EVO is a next-generation floating handheld marine VHF radio designed for reliability and performance. An evolution of the IC-M25EURO, it features a modernized design, improved ergonomics, and optimized battery life while retaining popular features such as its large LCD screen, Float'n Flash™ system, and AquaQuake™ automatic drainage.
Optimized ergonomics and display
The IC-M25EURO EVO introduces a new design with improved grip, featuring a non-slip surface and larger buttons for easier operation. Available in black or blue, it includes a large LCD screen for clear and rapid reading of essential information.
Advanced power performance and connectivity
This VHF is equipped with a USB-C connector, enabling fast charging in approximately 3 hours. Its battery life is extended up to 14 hours in ECO mode, which automatically switches transmission power from 5 W to 2.5 W to conserve battery. A battery health indicator is integrated for proactive management. The RF output power is 5 W, complemented by a 700 mW audio output for optimal communication clarity. The operating temperature range is from -15°C to +55°C.
Safety, waterproofing, and compliance
The VHF IC-M25EURO EVO includes enhanced safety features, such as the Float'n Flash™ system, which makes it float and flash if dropped in water (manually deactivable), and the AquaQuake™ function for effective speaker drainage. Its construction is IPX7 certified, ensuring waterproofing up to 1 meter of immersion for 30 minutes (with antenna and covers attached). Fault alerts notify the user in case of VHF overheating or low battery voltage. The unit is compatible with the optional HM-213 waterproof microphone. The IC-M25EURO EVO complies with CE directives (Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU, RoHS 2011/65/EU, Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542), UKCA, and RF exposure limits set by the FCC and ISED for professional use.
Market positioning
The Icom IC-M25EURO EVO distinguishes itself from its predecessor, the IC-M25EURO, through refined ergonomics, extended battery life, and the inclusion of a USB-C port for universal charging. Within the segment of floating handheld VHF radios, it offers notable advantages over entry-level or mid-range models from brands like Standard Horizon or Garmin, thanks to its optimized 14-hour battery life in ECO mode and fast charging capability. It targets sailors seeking a reliable and robust communication solution, emphasizing technical performance and ease of use over additional features such as built-in GPS, positioning the IC-M25EURO EVO as a high-performance and durable option for daily navigation.
