Detailed description
Detailed description
The Mastervolt Alpha Compact 28/110 VP alternator is a high-performance charging solution designed specifically for demanding marine environments. Operating on a 24V system, it delivers a nominal current of 110 A with an impressive output of 6.2 kW (8.3 HP). Engineered to fit perfectly on Volvo Penta engines via its gimbal arm mounting, this alternator ensures rapid and efficient charging of your battery bank, starting from a generation speed of 1400 RPM and up to a maximum rotation speed of 15000 RPM. Note that this model is supplied without the Alpha Pro III charge regulator, which remains necessary for optimal voltage management.
Thermal design and compactness
Unlike the classic Alpha series alternators, which are heavier and bulkier, the Alpha Compact range features a patented magnetic design that maintains compact dimensions while withstanding high temperatures. Weighing 7.4 kg, this model includes a dual cooling fan system, allowing it to operate safely up to a maximum temperature of 120 °C. This advanced thermal management ensures continuous energy production, even in the most confined and poorly ventilated engine compartments.
Connectivity and system integration
The electrical installation of the Alpha Compact 28/110 VP alternator is simplified by robust connections compliant with marine standards. It features two M8 positive output terminals, a W-signal connection via insulated lug, and a dedicated Mastervolt socket for induced current. Temperature monitoring is ensured by an integrated sensor with an RJ12 connector, enabling seamless communication with the electrical network once paired with the appropriate regulator. Although it is not galvanically isolated and rotates clockwise, its mechanical design makes it an ideal upgrade for propulsion systems requiring high charging capacity.
