Detailed description
Detailed description
The Mastervolt ChargeMaster Plus 24/40-3 is an all-in-one next-generation battery charger designed to simplify and optimize marine and mobile electrical systems. It integrates multiple functions, replacing several auxiliary chargers and reducing installation complexity and cost. This 24/40-3 model is a robust and versatile solution within the ChargeMaster Plus range, capable of managing complex battery configurations. Unlike traditional chargers, it offers universal compatibility with all global AC voltages and frequencies (80–275 V AC, 35–70 Hz), ensuring reliable operation even in demanding environments with voltage fluctuations and high temperatures.
Advanced charging technology and versatility
The ChargeMaster Plus 24/40-3 features the unique "Best Friend" design, allowing it to charge any combination of two or three batteries, whether lithium-ion, gel, or AGM, regardless of size or voltage. It uses the 3-step+ smart charging method to optimize battery lifespan. Among its exclusive features, the revitalization mode automatically restores deeply discharged batteries. The multiple voltage function allows charging a 12 V starter battery within a 24 V system without additional components, a significant advantage for hybrid setups. Priority charging redirects available power to the most discharged battery for accelerated recharging, while the smart input allows charging all three batteries from a single alternator, ensuring continuous power underway.
System integration and operational reliability
With three battery outputs (including one smart input/output), the ChargeMaster Plus 24/40-3 delivers a total charging current of 40 A at 28.8 V, suitable for a recommended battery capacity range of 160–400 Ah. It integrates a DC/DC converter, current limiter, and VSR relay, minimizing the need for external equipment. System simplicity is enhanced by an intuitive LED display and robust, ergonomic connections that facilitate installation. For communication, this charger is equipped with MasterBus, CZone, and NMEA 2000 interfaces, enabling seamless integration with modern monitoring and control systems. It can be configured via the MasterBus interface or a CZone configuration file and can even serve as a power source for sensitive communication equipment. Its compliance with CE, ABYC, UL1236, SAE J1171, ISO 8846, CEC/DOE, RCM/C-Tick, RMRS, and RRR standards attests to its reliability and safety for marine and mobile applications. Its robustness is ensured by an IP23 protection rating (vertical mounting), vario fan cooling, and an operating temperature range of -25 °C to 80 °C, with full protection against overheating, overcharging, short circuits, high/low battery voltages, and ignition. Its compact dimensions of 384 x 250 x 127 mm and weight of 5.9 kg facilitate onboard integration.
