Detailed description
Detailed description
Designed for Raymarine CHIRP fishfinder systems, the A80447 CPT-S plastic thru-hull transducer provides a dedicated underwater detection solution. This transducer uses HIGH CHIRP technology for improved target separation and enhanced image clarity, particularly suited for sport fishing and recreational boating. Made of plastic, it is intended for fiberglass or wooden hulls, where thru-hull installation ensures optimal performance by minimizing turbulence. Its 12° conical beam angle is specifically designed to compensate for significant deadrise angles, ensuring the sonar beam remains vertical for accurate readings.
CPT-S Technology and Positioning
Raymarine’s CPT-S series differs from traditional dual-frequency transducers by its single-band CHIRP approach, offering a wider frequency sweep for detailed echo returns. Unlike DownVision or SideVision transducers that provide photographic imaging, the CPT-S focuses on fish identification and bottom structure with fine resolution. It is compatible with Raymarine multifunction displays equipped with integrated CHIRP sonar or external fishfinder modules compatible with CPT-S. While a 0° CPT-S (such as the E70339 or A80446) is ideal for flat hulls, this 12° version is essential for maintaining performance on deep-V hulls. Compliance with standards 2013/53/EU and EN ISO 8846:2017 ensures its reliability in marine environments.
Installation and Maintenance
The A80447 transducer is a thru-hull model, requiring permanent mounting through the hull. This installation method is preferred for high-speed vessels or those requiring uninterrupted sonar readings, as it avoids interference from water turbulence. The 10-meter cable provided offers installation flexibility to reach the processing unit or display. Regular maintenance is simplified by the ability to apply water-based antifouling paint to prevent marine growth buildup, a critical aspect for maintaining long-term transducer performance.
