Detailed description
Detailed description
The Standard Horizon GX1400 fixed VHF is a compact and versatile solution for marine communication, featuring an integrated GPS antenna for enhanced functionality. With switchable transmit power of 25 W or 1 W, it adapts to short- and long-range communication needs. Its submersible IPX8 design ensures resistance to demanding marine environments, capable of being submerged to 1.5 m for 30 minutes.
Integrated Navigation and Positioning
Equipped with a 66-channel internal GPS receiver, the GX1400 displays GPS position and time on its 55 x 31 mm (2.6" x 1.4") matrix screen. It offers a COG (course over ground) accuracy of ±3° for speeds >1 to ≤17 knots, and ±1° above 17 knots. Typical time to first fix is one minute cold and five seconds warm, using WGS84 geodetic datum. The unit supports NMEA 0183 input and output (4800 or 38400 baud for output), enabling GPS and DSC data exchange with other navigation equipment.
Advanced DSC Features
The GX1400 VHF integrates full Digital Selective Calling (DSC) capabilities, including distress calls, individual, group, all ships, position request, and position report calls. It allows automatic polling of GPS positions for up to six vessels and provides automatic DSC channel selection, as well as DSC test calls. Internal logs store up to 30 transmitted and received distress calls, and 50 received calls, with individual directories for 60 contacts and group directories for 30. The DSC format complies with ITU-R M.493-13 (European version M.493-14).
Design and Integration
Measuring 156 x 61 x 100 mm (W x H x D) and weighing 800 g, this compact VHF is designed for easy installation, including flush-mounting (flush-mount dimensions: 131 x 50 x 120 mm). The 55 x 31 mm (2.6" x 1.4") screen offers good visibility, with GPS information and time clearly displayed. A microphone with channel selection and H/L buttons is included. The radio features programmable scan, priority scan, and dual-watch (double watch). Power requirement is 13.8 VDC ±20%, with transmit current draw of 5.0 A (Hi) and 1.0 A (Lo). Frequency stability is ±0.0003% across –20°C to +60°C.
