The Victron Energy VE.Bus BMS NG is a battery management system (BMS) designed for protection and control of lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries in the Victron Lithium NG range. This BMS is compatible with battery configurations of 12.8V, 25.6V, and 51.2V, enabling the creation of battery banks for 12V, 24V, or 48V systems. It manages up to 50 batteries for 12V and 24V systems, and up to 25 batteries for 48V systems, offering a maximum storage capacity of 192 kWh (12V), 384 kWh (24V), or 128 kWh (48V). It differs from the VE.Bus BMS V1 by managing solar chargers via a GX device and interfacing with Lithium NG batteries rather than Lithium Smart batteries, ensuring specific compatibility and optimized features.
System protection and communication
This BMS protects Lithium NG batteries by monitoring each individual cell. It generates a pre-alarm in case of imminent undervoltage, disables the inverter of VE.Bus chargers/converters, and disconnects loads via its dedicated output in case of cell undervoltage. For overvoltage, low-temperature, or cell overheating conditions, it disables charging from VE.Bus chargers/converters and solar chargers (VE.Direct and VE.Can) via a GX device. Communication with VE.Bus products such as MultiPlus, Quattro, or inverters is via two RJ45 ports, while a "Remote panel" port allows connection of GX devices, Digital Multi Control (DMC) panels, or VE.Bus Smart dongles for remote control.
Advanced features and connectivity
The VE.Bus BMS NG includes Bluetooth Smart for wireless configuration, monitoring, and software updates via the VictronConnect app. This feature enables instant display of key data such as state of charge (SoC), battery temperature, warnings, and alarms. It has dedicated outputs for load disconnection (1A max) and charging (10 mA max), as well as a pre-alarm output (1A max) for visual or audible warnings. A remote on/off terminal allows control of these outputs, and auxiliary power input/output terminals (GX-Power and Aux-In, 1A each) are included to power a GX device even when the system is off. The BMS operates within an input voltage range of 9 to 70 VDC.
