  • Hydraulic inboard autopilots: Ideal for large sailboats and motorboats. They offer high power and precision, with robust hydraulic cylinders. Example: Raymarine Evolution autopilots with hydraulic pumps.
  • Outboard autopilots: Designed for motorboats equipped with outboard steering. Simple installation and compact size. Example: Garmin Reactor 40 outboard autopilots.
  • rudder stock autopilots: Suitable for small to medium-sized sailboats. They mount directly onto the rudder stock. Example: Raymarine EV-100 Sail autopilots.
  • Autopilot computers: The brain of the system, integrating sensors and control algorithms. Compatible with various interfaces (NMEA 2000, SeaTalk NG). Example: the B&G H5000 autopilot computer.

The importance of sensors and interfaces
